Apple Fritters

Our children ask for fritters each fall when there are plenty of apples available.

METHOD: Deep-Frying
TIME: Prep: 15 min. Cook: 30 min.
Ingredients:
- 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups chopped peeled apples
- Oil for deep-fat frying
- Sugar
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine first five ingredients. Whisk the eggs and water; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. Fold in apples.
In a skillet, heat oil to 375°. Drop batter into oil by teaspoonfuls; fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Roll in sugar. Serve warm. Yield: 40 fritters.
