Once the biggest trend in wine, rosé is here to stay. It’s no surprise given this variety’s affordability and light, refreshing flavor, perfect for a sunny day.
What Is Rosé Wine?
Rosé is made from many of the same red wine grapes that you know and love—pinot noir, syrah, cinsaut and grenache, to name a few. Most wines get their color from contact with grape skins during the winemaking process. While red wines ferment in contact with grape skins for several days up to several weeks, rosés ferment in contact with grape skins for only a few hours, resulting in the wines’ characteristic light pink hue.
Rosé wine, best served chilled, is typically paired with seafood, salads, delicate pasta dishes and other lighter fare.
