I love eggnog alone, but some people in my family find it to be a little basic. This recipe amps it up, making it festive and a little boozy. Some people like it served over ice, but I prefer the richness of the eggnog without it getting watered down. —William Silas, Chicago, Illinois

Ingredients

  • 1 quart eggnog
  • 2 cinnamon sticks (3 inches)
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 2 cups cold brew coffee
  • 1/2 cup whiskey or bourbon
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped
  • Optional: Chocolate syrup, caramel syrup and ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan, bring eggnog to a boil over medium heat. Remove from the heat. Add cinnamon sticks and cloves. Cover and let stand 30 minutes. Transfer to a large pitcher or bowl. Cover and refrigerate until chilled, 1-2 hours.
  2. Remove and discard cinnamon sticks and cloves. Stir in coffee, whiskey and coffee liqueur. Serve in four pint glasses. Garnish with whipped cream and, if desired, chocolate and caramel syrups and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
